Historical Biggest Percentage Range Stock Screener
Find stocks with large historical daily ranges in ChartsWatcher. Screen the biggest percentage range across 10 days, 20 days or longer lookbacks.
Understand the metric
What is Biggest range (%)?
This filter finds the largest relative high-to-low range recorded on a single day within the selected lookback. It differs from the total range across the entire lookback: the focus is one unusually wide day. ChartsWatcher offers 10 days, 20 days, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year, allowing you to examine recent or longer historical movement extremes.
An illustrative example
Biggest range (%) in practice
Suppose the largest daily percentage range over the previous 20 days was 12%, while an older day within the one-year window reached 28%. A condition above 20% would exclude the stock with the 20-day option but include it with the 1-year option.
Make it part of your workflow
A more deliberate stock screen.
Use this ChartsWatcher filter to collect stocks with a history of unusually wide sessions for chart review. Compare the historical extreme with today’s percentage range or relative range, then inspect the original price action and news context rather than assuming the past event is repeating.
ChartsWatcher lets you combine this filter with other criteria in a toplist and rank the results by the columns you care about. Keep the shortlist beside charts, stock news, and watchlists in your own layout.

A little more detail.
How do I add Biggest range (%) in ChartsWatcher?
Open or create a toplist and add Biggest range (%) to its filter configuration. Choose the available options and the bounds that fit your screen. Combine it with other metrics to narrow the results. Filters can also refine which stocks qualify for an alert.
What should I check when interpreting this filter?
The maximum can be dominated by one exceptional day. A large historical reading does not mean the stock normally moves that far or is doing so today.
From an idea to your own scan.
Use Biggest range (%) with the other conditions that define your setup. Keep matching stocks, charts, and news together, with a configuration you can refine as you go.
