VWAP alert workflow
Build a VWAP alert workflow.
Choose the VWAP alert that describes the event you want to review, then use a distance filter and chart context to keep routine movement separate from the conditions you care about.
A practical starting point
Build it in three passes.
Set the documented condition, decide which eligible stocks matter to you, then read the event with context.
01 · Choose the event
Use the VWAP alert that matches the move.
Crossing Above and Crossing Below each offer VWAP as an option. For a faster move, Through VWAP adds a documented large-candle condition and an above/below direction. VWAP Acts as Support and Resistance cover responses at the line and use a documented one-minute-candle basis.
02 · Add the surrounding conditions
Describe proximity and participation separately.
Distance from VWAP is available in dollars or percent and measures the current relationship to the line. Relative volume compares the current candle with the prior fifteen candles, while absolute volume measures shares traded in the interval. Use them as separate conditions rather than treating one as proof of another.
03 · Compare the response on the chart
Keep ordinary crosses and reactions distinct.
A price can cross VWAP repeatedly, especially in a narrow range. Open the chart and compare the approach, response, nearby candles, and volume. The free VWAP Reject feed is a useful place to observe the distinction between a reaction near VWAP and a crossing event.
Keep context close
What to check before you interpret an alert.
The alert is a way to surface a documented condition. It does not score the quality of a trade or predict the next move.
- Whether the alert describes a cross, a larger move through VWAP, or a support/resistance response.
- The current distance to VWAP and the recent volume context on the selected timeframe.
- The chart sequence around the event, including any return across the line.
Configuration questions
Before you build.
Which alert should I use for a price crossing VWAP?
Choose Crossing Above with the VWAP option for a move from below to above, or Crossing Below with the VWAP option for a move from above to below.
How is Through VWAP different?
Through VWAP adds a documented candle-size condition: the candle is described as three times bigger than recent candles. The public help does not define the exact recent-candle comparison window, so review the result on the chart.
Does a small distance from VWAP mean support or resistance?
No. Distance from VWAP measures proximity in dollars or percent. It does not establish a support or resistance response; use the dedicated alert and chart review for that distinction.
