Low Float Stock Screener
Find stocks by tradable share float in ChartsWatcher. Build a low-float screener and combine available share supply with volume, price and rotation.
Understand the metric
What is Float?
Float represents the number of shares available for trading in a stock. It differs from shares outstanding, which describes the broader issued share count. ChartsWatcher’s float filter lets you define a tradable-share universe before adding activity or price conditions. The same float value also acts as the denominator in float rotation and related ownership measures.
An illustrative example
Float in practice
A float maximum of 20 million shares would include a stock with 12 million shares available for trading and exclude one with 80 million. If the first company has 18 million shares outstanding, that broader share count should not be substituted for its 12 million float.
Make it part of your workflow
A more deliberate stock screen.
Use float to define a ChartsWatcher research universe, then add absolute volume or float rotation to see current participation relative to supply. Keep price and news available in the workspace so a low-float label remains one piece of context rather than the entire screening rationale.
ChartsWatcher lets you combine this filter with other criteria in a toplist and rank the results by the columns you care about. Keep the shortlist beside charts, stock news, and watchlists in your own layout.

A little more detail.
How do I add Float in ChartsWatcher?
Open or create a toplist and add Float to its filter configuration. Choose the available options and the bounds that fit your screen. Combine it with other metrics to narrow the results. Filters can also refine which stocks qualify for an alert.
What should I check when interpreting this filter?
A small float describes available share supply, not current demand or guaranteed volatility. Float and total shares outstanding can differ substantially.
From an idea to your own scan.
Use Float with the other conditions that define your setup. Keep matching stocks, charts, and news together, with a configuration you can refine as you go.
