Understand the metric

What is Split ratio?

Split ratio describes the proportion of a stock’s last known split using ChartsWatcher’s stated convention. Values above 1 indicate reverse splits, while values below 1 indicate forward splits. For example, 20 represents a 20:1 reverse split and 0.5 a 1:2 forward split. The separate days-since-split filter adds timing to that structural information.

An illustrative example

Split ratio in practice

A ratio of 20 describes twenty pre-split shares being consolidated into one in the documented reverse-split convention. A ratio of 0.5 describes a forward split from one share into two. A screen above 1 selects the reverse-split side; add recency to focus on recent events.

Make it part of your workflow

A more deliberate stock screen.

Combine split ratio and days since split in ChartsWatcher to research recent corporate actions by type. Display current price and shares outstanding for context, then review the chart and company information to understand how the change in share structure relates to visible price-scale differences.

ChartsWatcher lets you combine this filter with other criteria in a toplist and rank the results by the columns you care about. Keep the shortlist beside charts, stock news, and watchlists in your own layout.

A little more detail.

How do I add Split ratio in ChartsWatcher?

Open or create a toplist and add Split ratio to its filter configuration. Choose the available options and the bounds that fit your screen. Combine it with other metrics to narrow the results. Filters can also refine which stocks qualify for an alert.

What should I check when interpreting this filter?

Ratio conventions vary between sources. In ChartsWatcher, values above 1 mean reverse splits; the ratio alone does not say when the event occurred.
